Stumbling stones in Finale Ligure

Stumbling stones

From an idea of Teo De Luigi in collaboration with ABC Studio, the Municipality of Finale Ligure and German artist Gunter Demnig, on January 21, 2019, some "stumbling stones" were placed in Finale Ligure streets in honor of victims of nazi and fascist deportation Italo Frattini, Giovanni Frattini, Antonio Arnaldi and Goffredo Scacciotti.

Finale Ligure mayor spoke to the many pupils of Finale schools: "During March 1944 these Finale citizens were arrested after a strike at Piaggio factory, were made prisoners, held in Spotorno in Merello camp, and afterward deported to Mauthausen killing field.

The artist, as we, hope that these stones will remind citizens and tourists of what happened 70 years ago. Therefore I invite you to study and think with your own head and heart without being influenced”.
